If you are new to eBusiness and need to support a customer request to connect electronically, or you are looking to leverage the Internet to increase the return on existing eBusiness capabilities, Edict Systems has a set of Internet Communications solutions that suit your business needs. VAN, ETN, or EDI-INT? Electronic Data Interchange solutions used to be relatively straightforward. Companies bought EDI translation software and subscribed to a Value-Added Network. With the advent of the Internet being used as a viable business tool for many business processes, the number of options to utilize the Internet for EDI has made leveraging this technology not as straightforward as the traditional EDI model. Edict Systems realizes that no one solution is optimal for the needs of all participants in an electronic trading community. That is why we offer solutions that span the spectrum of industry approved solutions. Electronic Trading Networks (ETN) - EnterpriseEC® An ETN is an outsourced connectivity option that utilizes the Internet as the communications infrastructure. While many ETN's mimic traditional Value-Added Networks, we have extended the value of outsourced connectivity to to include Trading Community Management and Document Management capabilities via a web-based interface. EnterpriseEC is ideal for companies who want to outsource connectivity to their trading partners, extend the value of e-Business document access within their organization, and reduce the cost of traditional VAN services. EDI-INT EDI-INT, also called AS1 or AS2, is a standards-based technology that allows trading community participants to connect with business partners via the Internet in a secure peer-to-peer environment. EDI-INT replaces the transaction-based pricing of VAN's and ETN's with a software licensing model. This is ideal for companies who transact high volumes of data and who have internal resources available to manage trading community connectivity. Edict Systems offers EDI-INT solutions, from Enterprise Class for large companies that want to connect to many trading partners, to limited connections needed to support the EDI-INT requirements of several trading partners. Value Added Networks (VANs) VANs have been the workhorse of EDI since its inception and are still responsible for the bulk of EDI connections. While traditional VAN services are typically more expensive than newer Internet-based technologies due to their legacy infrastructure, there are many applications where VAN services are ideal. Due to the public nature of the Internet, guaranteed delivery of mission critical business transactions cannot be assured. Because VANs operate their own private network, they can offer a higher service level when guaranteed timely deliver of data is a high priority. As an authorized IBM Business Partner, Edict Systems is able to offer both traditional VAN services via IBM's Information Exchange, as well as Internet-based VAN services via IBM's Business Exchange Services. Different Needs - Different Solutions We realize that no one solution is optimal for everyone. That is why we offer multiple connectivity solutions and the expertise to help our customers decide which is best for them, including blended solutions that maximize the unique benefits of each technology into the right solution for our customers.
